Fun Paradise III is off to a great start

The new server is really doing well and I am very happy about how the server is holding on and all the people joining. At the moment we have 22 players white-listed. We seem to be getting at least one player each day to join us now. Big thanks to those who joined recently and of course thanks to Rockstar hosting. I am definitely enjoying it so far and glad we decided to open up the server even though Bukkit is still not fully set up. With this group and the server running great, it's prolly the best server experience I have had so far. We only just started, so hopefully it will only get better :)

What is wrong with Twitch?

I am not going to talk about everything that is wrong with Twitch, because my list is quite long to discuss all that, but lets talk about two things I recently noticed.

Twitch IRC login - Why could I not log in to Twitch IRC anymore some days ago? Why did I have to spend about an hour to find out what was wrong? Is it really that hard to send your clients a notification about changes that have been made? So I was searching Google to finally find this link that explains why I could not connect anymore. Not sure why this change was needed and to be honest, I don't even care anymore. I am kind of fed up with all the changes we have to deal with and to be honest, things do not even seem to get better, just worse or smartly hidden. Next time just come with some official announcement or at least send a notification to your clients!!!

Twitch R9K spam filter - Say what??? Yes, R9K chat spam filter. Some stupid, buggy and for Twitch totally useless crappy spam filter for the Twitch chat. This is a filter that tries to match identical or similar messages being sent to the chat if containing more than 9 characters. This spam filter is still in beta development and based on the ROBOT9000 project which is used in 4chan. This bot is basically trying to reduce the 'signal' to 'noise' ratio. I won't go into full detail on how this bot actually works, but I do not believe that any spam filter can actually control big Twitch channels and make chat coherent and chatters behave. Having R9K will most likely turn it into a game of its own, making things even worse. I do feel that the broadcaster and moderators have a task here in the first place anyway since we are dealing with 'humans' (usually) and they have to set an example on how the chat is supposed to behave. Channels that lack competence in this will end up having a terrible chat which no bot can fix in my opinion.
What I noticed the last few days is Twitch admins joining some of the bigger channels and turning on R9K mode without letting the broadcaster know. Next thing is viewers/chatters who notice messages not being sent resulting into negativity and questions. Then a discussion starts about this R9K mode and broadcasters/moderators actually not having a clue what is going on or how to turn this 'chat mode' off again. Supposedly there should be a way to turn it off, but I have not been able to find any information on how to accomplish this. Chatters now start trying out this 'chat mode' resulting in a totally off-topic chat next to the stream. Since this R9K mode is buggy in the first place, a lot of messages are not being sent. All-in-all, once again, some STUPID move on Twitch's behalf. No notification or announcement on any of the official pages or whatsoever. Sneaking into channels to turn them into some 'test case' and not even a way to turn this stupid - prolly meant to be great - new feature OFF again.

I truly miss the good old days where we were still a great community having a feeling we were all working on making it even better TOGETHER. By now the community has completely separated from the staff with their 'we don't give a fuck what our community thinks' attitude.

If only there was an alternative ...

Fun Paradise III now open to public and FREE!

The new Minecraft 1.5.2 server is now officially open to the public! However new players who wish to join still have to go through the application process to get white-listed. I made a decision to make the server completely FREE to play on, even though I have to pay for having it hosted. Donations are therefor really appreciated but not mandatory.

If you wish to join, go to the forum and check the 'New Server' topic for the 'Applications'.

Hope to see you soon :-)

Have fun!!!

Minecraft 1.5.2 server now open to the public (white-listed)

The modpack for the Minecraft 1.5.2 server has been updated for a last time. I have also added a full Installation Guide to the forum with all the download links. The server will be officially open to the public as of now even though the Bukkit plugins/permissions still have to be done. It's just time to start having some fun and get some players to join.

Underhell and more ...

Been some very long nights streaming Underhell on Twitch TV. Had a bit of a rough night last night and still not feeling too well. Making some highlights on Twitch right now to possibly upload them to YouTube later. I should however call it an early night if I want to keep those headaches from coming back. So sorry, feel guilty for another two nights of not streaming, but I need to get well. I should be back tomorrow though, to do some last things in 'The house' in Underhell and wrap this game up for now until the release of the next chapter. Hope everyone can forgive me, but if I don't get some time off it will prolly make things worse. Early night for me and hopefully back fresh tomorrow.

Been chilling the last few days and feeling somewhat better now. Still have those headaches, but not as often anymore, woot! Been doing some well needed laundry and made a start on cleaning up the kitchen. Just a start though, should have done more, oh well. Cleaned up my computer a bit and moved some stuff to another drive, because my main drive was almost full. I really have to re-install everything completely, but that will take me a few days. Checked some of the games that were gifted to me as well as some of the games I bought myself. I got quite a lot of games in a short time and really want to start on several of them. First I need to shop for groceries though, I have nothing left to eat and even my cat is out of food. Looking at the time, this means I have to hurry now and go get myself a shower.
I feel like streaming again :) However, I do not feel like Minecraft at all. I am thinking of making it a long weekend with lots of coffee and maybe even a drink or two (been so sick I never got to get a drink last weekend). A new game I got myself will be enough game-time to fill up the full weekend as well I think. So yeah, 'Underhell' it is ... Not even sure how I found this game - must have been Kotaku. I am not really a big fan of First Person Shooters, but I do love a good story and am a big fan of horror. I have a few other games that would fit though and I might decide to play and stream different games than Minecraft more often. I just hope my computer will be able to cope with all those fancy graphics. Will see how it goes, hope to see you all later tonight on Twitch ... off to the shower now ;-)
